08:30 AM – Pickup & Drive to Materuni Village
We start the day with a scenic drive from your hotel in Moshi toward the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro. The road winds through coffee farms and banana groves, with the iconic peak (weather permitting) rising in the distance.
10:00 AM – Arrival & Village Welcome
Upon arriving at Materuni, you’ll be greeted by local hosts from the Chagga community. Your guide, a village native, will introduce you to the area’s rich traditions and natural beauty before starting the hike.
10:30 AM – Guided Waterfall Hike
The trail to Materuni Waterfalls is a moderate walk (approx. 45 minutes each way), passing through thick green valleys, river crossings, and panoramic viewpoints. Along the way, learn about native plants, local farming techniques, and everyday life in the village.
At the end of the trail, the forest clears to reveal the breathtaking Materuni Waterfall, cascading over 80 meters into a cool natural pool. Take time to relax, snap photos, and (if you’re feeling brave) dip your toes into the refreshing mountain water.
12:30 PM – Coffee Tour & Lunch
Back at the village, it’s time to dive into the world of Chagga coffee. You’ll participate in every step—from bean picking and roasting to grinding and brewing—using traditional tools and techniques. Singing and dancing are often part of the process, bringing energy and joy to the experience.
Then, enjoy a freshly prepared Chagga lunch, made from locally grown ingredients and served with hospitality that makes you feel like part of the family.
02:30 PM – Leisure & Local Interaction
After lunch, you can stroll through the village, interact with locals, or relax with a cup of your own hand-brewed coffee while taking in the views of the mountain and surrounding valley.
03:30 PM – Return Journey to Moshi
We begin the drive back to Moshi in the late afternoon, returning to your hotel by 5:00 PM, refreshed, inspired, and carrying the warmth of Materuni’s people and nature with you.
